I noticed from reading some documentation that this is on by default in Cognos Insight as well as Performance modeler.
From testing in architect, this function seems pretty pointless as you can't ever clear a cell back to Null if a number has ever been entered in it. Even if you try doing a dataspread -> clear it just sets all values to zero, not null.
In PM and Insight, however, deleting a number does set the cell back to its Null state, which can be verified by checking the cube in Architect.
It feels like it's getting slightly closer to being usable, but the fact that it behaves completely differently in different clients still makes it largely unusable and risky to have on by default in the later TM1 releases.
The one thing I can't fathom at all though is the UNDEF function as referenced in the IBM documentation. It seems like this should be able to be used in a logical test to test for the difference between 0 and Null, but I can't see how it should be used. Has anyone got any ideas? |
