But when "C" is a valid data value which the user wants to enter and TM1 thinks that user is trying to spread/clear values. In that case its painful and one has to go through workarounds.

Agreed. The way I heard it from IBMers pre-9.5, Clear was going to be converted to a multi-key solution. (Hello IBM, the frappin' [Alt] key is there for a reason.) I can only assume that someone far more brilliant in the GUI design department decided on a confirmation dialog instead. I agree with Lotsa that it's an improvement over the original design which was like having a trigger on a thermonuclear bomb without a safety device, but it still leaves the problem that Rizwan referred to... in addition to which confirmation dialogs can get real old, real fast, if you're repeatedly performing an action.
(I have a rather large Atlantic Salmon in the freezer just waiting to be hurled at the head of the genius at Micro$loth who came up with the "If you change a file name extension, the file may become unusable" dialog without providing a checkbox which reads "Well duh, Thank you for telling me but I've been doing this for a while now and don't need to hear the obvious. Shut up and never, ever, bother me with this dialog ever again".) |
